Wilkinsons Make-up Brushes - Powder Brush and Stippler Foundation Brush - Review

I'm sure many of you have spotted the new beauty range on offer at Wilkinsons. If not get yourself down there! It really is something to look at and for those of you, like me, who are after budget beauty items it is an absolute steal! Today I will be sharing my thoughts on the Wilkinsons make-up brush line; specifically their powder brush and stippler foundation brush.

There are plenty more brushes in this range however I own far too many brushes already so I chose the two I new I would get the most use from. The stippler brush and the powder brush are both available for £4.

The packaging on these brushes is fantastic. They are so well sealed which is fantastic for hygiene! At my local Wilkinsons they have a display where you can actually touch the brushes and get an overall idea and (literal) feel for them before picking up a fresh and sealed brush. They come in zip lock bags which you can re-use. Personally I have used them for going away for make-up bits and bobs that could leak. The brushes also come with protective sleeves to keep the brushes in good condition and maintain their shape.

First I am going to express my absolute love for the powder brush. If you see this brush buy it. Simple as. It is so thick and dense and SO SOFT! I can't believe how soft it is! Even my other half will stroke this when he sees me using it... weird I know but trust me it is the softest thing in the world!

As a powder brush it is fantastic. Since the brush is so dense it picks up the powder on the very surface of the brush and evenly disperses it. The effect it gives is always so lovely and natural. As for cleaning the brush it holds up amazingly. I've had these brushes for around 3 months and I can honestly say I have seen no fallout which can be a bit of a risk with cheaper brushes. Massive thumbs up to Wilkinsons for this brush!

Now we move on to the stippler brush... I'm going to be brutally honest here. For its purpose as a stippler brush it's rubbish. The hair is far too soft. A stippler brush needs to be a lot denser with stronger stipples of hair to apply the foundation. Compared to my MAC 187 stippling brush there is no competition... I reach for the MAC 187 each time. I'm really at a loss as to what I can use this brush for other than another powder brush which I admit I do tend to if all my other brushes are being washed!

It's just too soft for its purpose. Other than that it would have been fantastic. For £4 it's not a big loss but I would stay clear of this brush if you are considering it. I have seen a lot of similar reviews so fingers crossed Wilkinsons will remake this brush with stiffer and denser bristles. Then it will be perfect!

  1. I haven't tried any of the wilkinsons brushes but I really want to, and I tend to go to eBay for affordable make-up brushes, I bought a pack of 10 a while ago for about £8.95 and that was a few months ago and no problems whatsoever!! :-)

    1. I've seen a lot of really good make-up brushes, particularly dupe ones, on ebay. I'm still torn on if I should try any or if I have enough brushes already!

She's done so well for herself and I love all of her designs! It doesn't surprise me that she is so hands-on with her business but I wouldn't be able to afford any of her collection! Ah well, looks pretty! xx

  8. Faux timber blinds are the ones that are never affected by strong wind and rain lashing on them. Cleaning them of dirt is no big deal since they do not need any special cleaning sprays and other products. best duster for wood blinds
