Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream - Review

Now that we are getting in to the slightly colder months our skin can begin to scream out for moisture and decent creams to re-nourish it! Today I thought I would blog about and review a product I have been using for years and that I recommend to everyone!

Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream

Way back when I was around the age of 17 I began looking in to night creams and skincare and I stumbled across the Nivea Regenerating Night Cream. At £4.35 from Boots this product is pretty affordable as far as night creams go. You can check it out here.

The jar itself that the night cream comes in is really pretty and simple. Its a sturdy thick glass material with a plastic lid. The colour is of course the typical Nivea blue.

This is a photograph, as I am sure you can tell, of a fresh new tub. My latest tub is just about to run out so I thought I would photograph the new fresh tub for you all! Now on to the product itself. The cream is so lovely and thick however it absorbs so quickly. It is fantastic for those days when you take off your make-up on a winter day and just apply a nice thick layer of this cream. Your skin is left feeling so lovely, refreshed and moisturised. I am pretty convinced that using this moisturiser during the winter months has kept my skin in pretty good condition for the past few years. The smell, as I am sure you can imagine, is the usual Nivea scent.

Don't let me fool you, this cream is fantastic for all year round! The consistency is absolutely perfect and I wish all moisturisers absorbed as well in to the skin as this one does!

Have you tried the Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream? What is your night cream of choice? Let me know in the comments below!

Makeup Revolution Cover & Conceal Palette - Light and Light-Medium - Review

Hello everyone! Over the past few weeks I have been discussing the bits and bobs I have been trying from the infamous brand Makeup Revolution. One product I was particularly interested in was their Cover & Conceal Palette.

Makeup Revolution Cover & Conceal Palette

As you can see I picked up two of these palettes. One in Light and one in Light-Medium. The reason I did this is I was very interested in using these palettes for contouring. These palettes are available for £6 each. You can check out the Cover & Conceal Palettes here on the Makeup Revolution site.

Light

Makeup Revolution Cover & Conceal Palette - Light

Firstly the Light palette. As you can see the palettes come with 8 considerably large pans of concealer. The concealers themselves for both palettes are extremely creamy. At first I have to say this worried me! I didn't want a concealer that was going to melt off! However it is this creamy texture that allows the concealer to blend beautifully! I must warn you however that in warm weather these palettes can become even creamier so I try to avoid them when its a bit hot!

The shade selection for fair is great for those of us with paler skin and offers tons of variety.

Above you can see the top shades of the palette swatched. The variety of shades is really good in my opinion. Although in the pan the shades look very similar they are actually all incredibly different. What makes the palette so diverse is that the concealers can match those with various different skin tones.

Above are the bottom four shades in the palette. As you can see the concealers are incredibly creamy. If you are concious of creamy products then this may not be a hit for you however I loved the creamy consistency! It allowed me to blend in the product beautifully without creating any harsh lines which makes it perfect for contouring - just what I wanted it for!

Light - Medium

Makeup Revolution Cover & Conceal Palette - Light-Medium

Above you can see the palette in the shades Light-Medium. Personally I can see this being perfect for those that tan or even use fake tan as it offers such a diverse range of shades. I myself use these for contouring and for cream bases of neutral eyeshadows.

This picture, once again, shows the top row swatched. I'm not too keen on the fourth shade along the top row as it is very orange so I probably won't be reaching for it too often!

Makeup Revolution Cover & Conceal Palette - Light-Medium

The bottom four shades however are absolutely gorgeous! Yes I will admit I don't reach for this palette too much except for when contouring however it is just so perfect for contouring and is also perfect for doing other peoples make-up as there is such variety!

Have you tried the Makeup Revolution Cover & Conceal Palette? What are your thoughts? What are your favourite concealers? Let me know in the comments below!

*Simple Kind To Skin Illuminating Radiance Cream - Review*

A while back when I was offered the chance to run the Kind To City Skin giveaway by Simple I was also sent a bag of goodies myself to try and test out! Fast forward after packing away, moving out and unpacking I have finally gotten round to reviewing and trying out some of the Simple products I was sent! Today I am focusing on the Illuminating Radiance Cream.

Simple Kind To Skin Illuminating Radiance Cream

Firstly, when I was running the giveaway, this is one of the products that jumped out at me as I really don't have anything like it in my skincare or in my collection. The Simple Kind To Skin Illuminating Radiance Cream is available for £7.99 at Boots here. The product itself has an SPF of 15 which I love. I love having a bit of sun protection all year round in my skincare and make-up.

So what makes this product illuminate the skin? Well the product claims to be 'infused with multi-vitamins, skin-loving ingredients and light reflecting minerals: it captures the light for immediate natural radiant looking skin'. On top of this the cream itself also has little glitter particles. Now... when I say that please don't think I mean your face will look like a glitter ball. There is only the occasional piece of glitter and underneath make-up it blends away beautifully and makes your skin look awake and fresh, No glitter ball face here!

I use this cream just after my serum and before my primer. It slides beautifully in to my skincare and make-up routine in the morning and in all honesty I will be reinvesting in this cream for a long time. I absolutely love it! Hats off once again to Simple for a... well simple but amazing product! The cream itself is also a fantastic little moisturiser. It is lightweight and quickly absorbs in to the skin however it also feels very moisturising.

Have you tried the Simple Kind To Skin Illuminating Radiance Cream? What are your thoughts? Do you have a favourite Simple product? Let me know in the comments below!

Maybelline Matte Maker - Review

I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect powder. Something that will set my make-up and keep me looking matte all day. For those of you that have a job where you are constantly on your feet then you will be able to relate!

Maybelline Matte Maker

When I spotted Maybelline's Matte Maker I was exited. I love trying new powders out and the idea of a powder specifically designed to help keep me matte seemed fantastic. I got this on sale at the time for £2.99 at Tesco which is a steal... however it is still a steal at £3.99 at boots here. I picked up the shade classic ivory.

But does the Maybelline Matte Maker live up to its name? Well yes! The matte finish on such an affordable product it amazing. For £3.99 it is comparable to my ever so loved Rimmel Stay Matte powder. If anything it is an exact dupe! I will be the first to admit that although this powder makes your make-up appear incredibly matte it is just like any other powder. It isn't bullet proof and once it has worn off it will lose that matte effect. I tend to find that after 4/5 hours I need to re powder. However I find this to be the case with any powder!

So if you already own, love and cherish your Rimmel Stay Matte powder I would wait to try this till you're all out. It is pretty much a dupe! If however you are looking for a new powder why not give the Matte Maker a go? I wasn't dissapointed!

Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips - Review

Hello everyone! I am bringing to you a long overdue review! One that was also photographed back on my old iphone. I swear all of these reviews will be out and published by Christmas! A while back I realised that although my skin care routine is good I had something missing. A blackhead cleansing routine. Some of my cleansers are labelled as fighting blackheads however I wasn't too sure if this was really enough. After looking at a few reviews I decided I would choose the BiorĂ© Deep Cleansing Pore Strips.

Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips

I decided to get the bigger box which contains 7 nose strips and 7 face strips. I figured since these are a tad expensive that I may as well push the boat out the whole way!

Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips

It has been a while since I have regularly used pore strips. Back when I was in my teenage years... a long time ago... they were a pretty regular thing for me to use. I suffered badly with not only acne but blackheads on my nose. The skin gods were not kind to me! However soon everything settled and I escaped the bad skin era of my youth! Nowadays, like most people, the pores on my nose can become occasionally clogged and need to be cleaned. So I thought I would invest in what a lot of people claim are the best drugstore pore strips!

Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips

One thing I did note when testing out these pore strips... they dry to be incredibly hard and grab tightly on to the skin. This is fantastic for getting rid of those stubborn blackheads but to be honest I really wouldn't recommend using these on a regular basis. They just seem to harsh! I stick to once a month and that has been just fine for me. Don't get me wrong every last blackhead was removed however it did hurt a bit getting it off! Other than that I can't fault them.

To be honest they are fantastic pore strips. They do the job and they do it well. However I have tried a ton of pore strips that are cheaper and softer on the skin which yes might not pull out every blackhead but it is a lot more gentle on the skin. Personally I will be using up the strips I have then going back to some old favourites from my youth!

Have you tried the Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips? What do you do to remove those stubborn blackheads? Let me know in the comments below!

Poundland Beauty: Creightons Squeeky Clean Daisy Fresh Shower Detox - Review

Hello everyone! As you can probably tell I am still filtering through the older blog posts from my old house at the moment however I have put in a few photographs in from my new photographing/blogging spot in my new house. Is it sad that I immediately found the best places for lighting when I moved in? Probably! Anyway today I am returning back to my well loved Poundland Beauty series which I must admit has been neglected recently! I haven't had much time to pop in to Poundland what with work but I promise you guys I will delve in to there soon!

Creightons Squeeky Clean Daisy Fresh Shower Detox

Anyway today I am returning to the Squeeky Clean brand that Poundland supply. I must admit I have been really loving this range of scented products. They are basic and get the job done. They would also be lovely beauty products for budding young people and also for travel so you wouldn't be worrying too much if you leave them behind in a hotel or break them!

The Squeeky Clean Daisy Fresh Shower Detox is the perfect raspberry scent once again that has been prevalent throughout the whole range. If you couldn't tell from the rather long, drawn out name of the product it is a shower gel! The lather is pretty fantastic for £1. Okay so there are no magical skin healing properties but for £1 what can you expect? I love the old fashioned photography and the bright packaging - slightly inspired by Soap & Glory wouldn't you say?

I love this brand simply because the scent is allowing me to cling on to the scent of summer as we delve in to the colder months. This shower gel has also been a must have for me whilst being in-between two houses during the process of a move and whilst being away and staying at others houses.

A big thumbs up for me for this brand! Have you tried Poundland's Squeeky Clean range or their Daisy Fresh Shower Detox?

No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum - Review

A few months ago I became obsessed with skincare. I began to realise just how important it was in keeping not only my skin looking good in the long run but it also helps that way my make-up sits on my face. Since my new obsession began I have been trying and testing numerous different skin care bits and bob... one of which being the No 7 Protect and Perfect Intensive Advanced Serum.

No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum

I've had my eye on this product for a while. In fact my other half ended up buying it me because I wouldn't shut up about it every time we went in to Boots! I've had this for around 2/3 months now so I have thoroughly tested it for you guys. My verdict? Well I was expecting more but that was only because I have read such amazing reviews on how it has changed so many people's skin! Truth be told my skin isn't that bad... and I'm only 22! However throughout using this product it did make my skin look and feel much more hydrated and a lot healthier.

You can get this serum for £23.95 at Boots. Personally I don't use this as my everyday serum. I use it once a week to keep my skin looking and feeling youthful which is exactly what it does. I did use it everyday for 2 weeks to see the results and my skin really did look fantastic however with a price tag of almost £24 it is more practical for me to use this once a week to keep my skin looking good!

Another thing I should mention... the intense serum is actually intended for older skin however I thought I would give it a go anyway! The advanced serum is intended for those between 35 to 45 whilst the regular formula is for those between 25 to 35. So it is up to you which one you want to go for! Both are exactly the same price.

The problem with reviewing anti ageing products is that I can't really tell you if it works... I'll let you know in 40 years? However I can tell you that it has made my skin look and feel fantastic and is the perfect addition to my skincare routine.

Have you tried No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum? Or have you tried anything else from the No7 skincare range? Let me know in the comments!

Simply Home: Yankee Candle in Cherry Vanilla - Review

Hello everyone! Today I am bringing you a slightly different blog post - a review of a candle! Ever since I moved out I have been obsessed with candles. Already after a month I own far too many...but I have loved experimenting with different scents and everyone commenting on how lovely my house smells! Today I will be looking at Cherry Vanilla from the Yankee Candle Simple Home range.

Simply Home: Yankee Candle in Cherry Vanilla

Firstly the price. I managed to pick this candle up on sale at Asda for £10. Usually they retail between £9-12 in my experience if you search around. I love the jars that the Simply Home range come in... in fact I plan on re-using it for make-up brushes when it has burnt all the way down.

Next lets get on to the scent. I'm not the best at describing scents but I can tell you that it smells so sweet! The scent is definitely noticeable. Although it has the sweet smell of cherries there is a slight muskiness to the scent which I can only assume is the vanilla! I use this pretty much everyday after cooking tea after work and it not only soothes me down but it also covers any cooking smells which I love. Like I said I burn this pretty much every day and as I type the candle after 5 weeks still has half the jar left. I'm very impressed!

Simply Home: Yankee Candle in Cherry Vanilla

As you can see it looks absolutely beautiful lit. They are the perfect little gift especially for those of you that know anyone that is moving out. They get rid of the new house smell with ease!

Have you tried any of the Yankee Candle Simply Home range? What is your favourite candle brand and scent? Let me know in the comments below! I'm dying to try more!!

Fashion: New Look Haul

I have been meaning to do this blog post for such a long time... once again it was one of those blog posts that mysteriously got lost in the world of draft posts never to be seen again! Anyway at least I have road tested these fashion pieces enough to let you know how they really are!

New Look Haul

All these bits and pieces I picked up before I moved out all ready in time for work! I needed a new bag, cardigan and pair of boots for all the walking I do!

New Look: Ankle Boots

I really love these pair of ankle boots. They are incredibly durable and have lasted a month of all the walking I do. They go with everything I wear for work which is a bonus and they are so comfortable! New Look do a fantastic job when it comes to ankle boots and combat boots!

New Look: Handbag

I had the hardest time trying to find a handbag for work. It really is difficult nowadays to find a practical bag that looks stylish however I think I managed it! I wear a ton of floral pieces so this bag matches with everything. It's a lovely big size that with wear increased a bit. Overall I really love this bag! I have received a lot of complements on it too!

New Look: Cardigan

Lastly I needed a cardigan. I have a few longer cardigans however I wanted a shorter one that I could just chuck over my work clothes. I really love this cardigan as it is so lightweight but can really keep you warm. You can also do up the top two buttons to keep it together and it nicely droops over any outfit.

So there you go! My long overdue New Look haul! As I have said previously I am trying to be very well behaved and work my way through my draft posts before I bring you guys some of the newer things I have been trying! I hope you are all enjoying the blog clear out!

Have you been shopping in New Look lately? What did you pick up? What is your favourite high street store? Let me know in the comments!
