Rimmel London - Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch - Review

Hello everyone! I have been wanting to review the Rimmel Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch for the longest time! However I only had three of the four available shades and to be honest it was bugging me! Luckily I managed to collect all four. I managed to find these in Poundland which is an absolute steal considering one of these Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch shades usually retails for £4.99! You can check these out on the Rimmel website here.

Rimmel London - Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch

As I said I picked up these four shades in Poundland. The shades I have are 001 Flush Of Pearl, 002 Radiant Rose, 003 Peach Glow and 004 Shimmering Sand. The packaging is in line with the whole Wake Me Up line by Rimmel with the infamous orange colouring. You get 0.47 fl oz/ 14ml of product.

I am slowly beginning to learn about highlighting and contouring. Since I am off work and QTS training for the summer it has given me plenty of time to play around with my day to day make-up. I'm also beginning play around with contouring. The Rimmel Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch shades are great to begin learning how to highlight certain areas of your face.

Here are four swatches of  each shade in order. Shade 001 Flush Of Pearl is pretty neutral shade for those with fair skin. It is great to add a neutral highlight without adding too much colour to the skin. Next we have shade 002 Radiant Rose. I love using Radiant Rose as a blush. It is fantastic at adding a lovely rosy tone to the cheeks whilst adding a shimmer highlight. Shade 003 Peach Glow is, as the name would suggest, much more peach toned and is great for a subtle contour or highlight. Lastly we have shade 004 Shimmering Sand. This is the perfect highlight for those with tanned skin.

What doesn't really show up in these swatches is the shimmer that the product contains. I'm not going to lie when I first tried these out and swatches these I did panic a bit. Shimmer particles tend to send me in to an 'I will look like a disco ball' frenzy. However the shimmer that these shades give is so natural. It does make the skin appear naturally radiant. The key is to use a little of this product. A little goes a long way as they very well pigmented.

Have you tried the Rimmel London Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch? What is your favourite highlighter? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I think with products that add shimmer it depends on the size of the glitter particles. If the shimmer is fine then it looks great but if it's massive chunks then you have the disco ball issue! Great find at Poundland though!

    1. I totally agree with you! I was a bit worried when I tried the Wake Me Up foundation when I saw the particles however they were so refined that I needn't have worried! It's exactly the same with these!
