Book Review: Missing by Shelley MacKenney

Hello everyone! Today I have another book review for you guys. If you haven't already been doing so click here for my progress in the 2014 reading challenge and links to all of the book reviews I have done so far!

Today I am reviewing a book that I absolutely loved! I loved it so much in fact that I actually contacted the author to tell her how much I loved the book and respected her as an individual. The book I will be reviewing today is Missing by Shelley MacKenney.

Missing by Shelley MacKenney

Missing is Shelley MacKenney's story about her life. In short, without telling you all the details of the book and ruining the read for you, this book is both raw and truthful in its representation of a variety of tough life experiences.

Shelley begins her story by describing her home life, her adolescence and ultimately what leads her to take the choice to leave home, leave her job and become 'missing'. Shelley has a great way with words whilst she describes her story. There were times  I felt scared for her and times that I hoped something fantastic would come across for her. What makes the book even more touching is that you know it its Shelley's own life. As I said I will not describe the events that unfold in the book as I don't want to give too much away about Shelley's story before you pick up the book!

I couldn't put this book down. My emotions were all over the place! I smiled, I was sad, I cried! I can only imagine how tough this all must have been for her and it really makes you appreciate what you have. If you enjoy real life stories I can do nothing more but recommend this book to you. I have recommended it to countless other people!

Are there any real life stories you would recommend? Have you read this book before? Let me know in the comments below!
