MAC Powder Blush in Melba - Review

Recently I have been trying a variety of different blushes. I have really noticed how changing something as simple as blush can really change a look and make the skin look so healthy and fresh. Today I will be reviewing my first ever MAC blush which is in the shade Melba.

I must admit that when I was trying to choose my very first MAC Powder Blush I was so overwhelmed by choice! Take a look here for the massive range of powder blush that MAC offers at £18 each. I eventually made up my mind and chose the shade Melba as my blush collection is lacking in some coral shades.

Coral shades seem to be more and more popular as the year progresses. I decided I would try a blush with just a hint of coral tone. Much like the rest of MAC's products the packaging is amazing. It is sturdy and sleek in appearance.

The pan itself is pretty decent in size which I would hope for with the £18 price tag! The blush itself isn't too powdery meaning that you don't lose a lot of product from fallout from the pan... again another point to MAC for getting the formula spot on.

The pigmentation is truly amazing. This is simply one swatch on the back of my hand. As you can see Melba is the perfect coral toned blush, perfect for summer. I am much more used to wearing pink/ deep pink blushes so I was nervous about trying this blush! However it is truly beautiful. It gives a lovely healthy flush to the skin. It is also perfect for summer. I love wearing this blush when it is sunny outside as it really is the perfect finishing touch to that summer look!

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NC15 - Review

Hello everyone! If you read my birthday blog post you will know that I received a few make-up bits, including MAC! I am slowly but surely trying out items from MAC that I have wanted to try for years. Today I am going to be taking a look at MAC's Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in the shade NC15. You can take a look at the powder and its available shades here on the MAC website.

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NC15

I have reviewed the Studio Fix Fluid Foundation here. After I had bought and tried out this foundation I knew I had to try the powder!

The packaging is so sleek. I really love how professional this compact looks. It is domed in shape and when opened reveals two compartments. The top compartment reveals a handy compact mirror which is perfect for travel and on the go touch ups. The second lower compartment contains a circle sponge applicator. Personally I do use the sponge with this product as the powder, for want of a better word, is very powdery when used with a normal powder brush. I find that using a sponge allows you to perfectly place the powder on your face and then you can blend it further with a brush.

The powder itself is absolutely amazing. It perfectly sets your make-up in place. My make-up doesn't budge for hours after I have set everything with this powder. What is even more impressive is that it has a full enough coverage that you could simply use this as a powder foundation on its own or over concealer. I often use this after wearing make-up since 7am to quickly touch up my make-up and coverage again at 5pm rather than re-applying a full face of foundation. It truly is amazing!

The price tag for this is £21.50 therefore I wouldn't recommend it as an affordable day to day powder. However for touch up and special occasions it really is amazing. The finish is absolutely gorgeous and the powder has amazing oil control throughout the day.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15 - Review

Recently I have been wanting a fuller coverage when doing my make-up. I've had a few important days and nights where I have wanted my make-up to look as good as possible so I thought I would splurge on those items that I don't usually usually splurge on!

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15

I've had my eye on various different concealers by MAC. A lot of their concealer range has received pretty good reviews so I thought I can't go too far wrong with what I choose! Part of my reasoning behind choosing their Pro Longwear concealer was it being long wearing as the name would suggest. As I have mentioned countless times I want make-up that lasts as long as possible and ideally requires minimal touching up (not asking to much am I!) as I lead a busy lifestyle and I often expect my make-up to last from 7am to 10pm (again not asking much). I'm also a girl that hates touching up make-up! So this concealer appealed to me as it is specifically long wearing.

One thing I will say I wasn't happy with was the size of the product; especially for the amount you are paying for! For 0.30 Fl OZ you will have to pay £15.50. To put the size in to real terms the product is about the size of my little finger - with the lid being just below half of that size. So in light of this I have only being using this concealer for special occasions! Whilst we're on the packaging I need to express my disdain for the lid.  It's that horrible matt type material that absorbs every make-up covered fingerprint on to the lid. I can never see the sense in that type of material being used in make-up packaging!

Anyway lets discuss the actual concealer itself. The concealer is fantastic! On the website it is described as 'medium to full coverage'. I think it is full coverage for sure - if you are after a concealer that you could double up as a foundation then this would be perfect! This product is also described as having a 'matte finish' which I also agree with. However if you team it up with a foundation that has a more dewy of satin finish it does not affect the finish of the foundation which is fantastic. If anything it gives the foundation an even base to sit on. The product has also been described as lasting '15 hours'. Astoundingly I agree with this as well! When I am taking my make-up off at the end of the day this concealer is still hanging on; covering those dark circles from my early 5am starts!

Overall despite my earlier rants about the packaging and the price I honestly love this product overall. Yes it has its downsides but I think if you just isolate your thoughts to the product alone you are definitely paying for quality. I would definitely recommend this for those special events; I have a few weddings to attend this year and I will definitely be pulling this out to use!
