Lets take a look at: Barry M Nail Polishes

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! Just a quick update before I head straight into today's blog post! I am away from home for the duration of this week. Although I will have internet access I may be a bitter slower in responding to any comments and tweets so please check back if you are awaiting a response! Don't worry though! There will still be posts throughout this week as usual!

Buisness out of the way... lets get straight in to today's blog post! A few weeks ago when I finished work for the summer I decided I wanted to go out and pick up a few new nail polishes. I paint my nails the most in the summer as I have more time to do so and I am less likely to chip them. I love Barry M nail polishes, particularly their Gelly Hi-Shine nail polishes of which I will link reviews of at the end of this post. I picked up two Barry M polishes with a free limited edition shade!

I ended up picking these three shades which I think are absolutely gorgeous. I initially went looking for a turquoise colour which you can see I managed to find!

The three shades I picked up were 417 Blue Grape, 420 Guava and Bikini 421 which is the limited edition shade I chose. The limited edition shade is one of their normal formulas and not the Gelly Hi-Shine formula.

417 - Blue Grape

First lets a look at 417 Blue Grape. This blue is absolutely gorgeous. I got a lot of compliments on this nail polish! I would describe this shade as the perfect electric blue. I personally was a bit unsure of this colour at first as it is a deep colour but it is bright! Something about the colour made me a bit  unsure however over time I really loved the colour.

420 - Guava

Next we have 420 Guava which is my favourite of the bunch. It is exactly what I was looking for. The colour is so opaque and I only needed one coat. It is absolutely fantastic and this bright colour actually went with a lot of my clothes! I have been grabbing this shade a lot over this summer. Definitely a summer favourite!

421 - Bikini

Next we have the limited edition shade 421 Bikini. I really love this colour as it a great blend of a lavender colour and a neon purple. It really is a lovely and wearable colour. It is hard to find wearable coloured nail polish sometimes however I think this is the perfect shade for adding a splash of colour to your outfits and to your nails!

Lastly I thought I would add this in to show you guys! I created a different spin on the traditional manicured nail look by using 420 Guava on all my nails expect my ring finger nails which I used 417 Blue Grape. I think this combination of colours works so well. It almost gives an under water/ sea type of vibe don't you think? No? Just me? Okay!

I hope you guys enjoyed this look at a few Barry M nail polishes that I have picked up recently. Below are some other reviews of the Barry M Hi-Shine nail polishes that I have written:

What is your favourite out of the three? Are there any nail polishes you would recommend? What is your favourite Barry M nail polish? Let me know in the comments!

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Prickly Pear review

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint by Barry M in Prickly Pear

So I know I am a bit late to join the bandwagon on these but I am so glad I caved in and gave them a try! We have all seen it when a product gets over-hyped. I don't know about you but sometimes it puts me off because you hear too much about it but then sometimes it draws me in and I just think I MUST HAVE IT! With the Barry M Gelly Polishes I definitely thought I must have this polish.

The Barry M Gelly polishes are available in a range of colors and are available for £3.99 each. The idea behind these polishes is that they are supposed to dry with the finishes of Gel type polishes and also with shine. Check out the Barry M website here for more details.

Two coats of the Barry M Gelly polish without a top coat

As usual I applied by base coat to my nail to protect my nails. Then I applied two coats of the Barry M Gelly polish in Prickly Pear. As you can see from the above picture the polish dries in to a solid color and also dries with a lovely subtle shine to it. I then decided to take a look and see what the polish looked like with an additional top coat.

Two coats of the Barry M Gelly polish with a top coat

As you can tell the polish looks even more shiney with a top coat. Personally I would always apply a top coat to any polish as it helps to prevent the polish from chipping. The fact that the polish dries with a shine however is great for those who don't like painting their nails or don't have the time to sit there and wait for various layers of polishes to dry.

So what about the polish itself? For me I have never known a polish to stay this long without chipping. This polish lasted a whole seven days without chipping which is pretty impressive. Also the polish never chipped away from the base of the nail or cuticle which a lot of polishes tend to do! The effect of the nail also did look like the gel manicures you can get professionally done! The drying time between each layer though is a tad longer than normal polish; but for the gel like consistency of the polish this is kind of to be expected.

Positives:

  • Great price at £3.99
  • A variety of colors available
  • Available internationally
  • Stays chip free for a week
  • Has a shine/gel nail finish
Negatives:
  • The drying time can be a bit of a pain!

Have you tried these Barry M Gelly high shine polishes? Or do you want to? What are your thoughts? Please let me know in the comments!
