Yankee Candle - Simple Home Christmas Treats - Review

Are you all ready for the sudden influx of Christmas blog posts? I can't tell you how long photographing all my Christmas decorations and décor is taking... and yes we are fully decorated for Christmas in my household already! Now that we are all beginning to get in to that Christmas spirit we can start talking about Christmas scents! Of course Yankee Candle have once again brought another winning scent to the table with Christmas Treats.

Yankee Candle - Simple Home Christmas Treats

My other half picked me up Christmas Treats, admittedly a good while ago now, as I kept picking the jar up and smelling it during our weekly shops! I knew I wanted this candle to begin burning it at Christmas! Am I the only person that likes burning a certain scent during the holidays? Then every time you smell it or burn it it's like a trip down memory lane! Anyway I am getting off topic! You can pick up this candle from either Asda or Tesco for £9.

So what does this candle smell like? Here I go again trying to describe scents... To me it smells like Christmas cookies! Or vanilla topped cookies. If you enjoy sweet smells then this candle is ideal! It takes the route of sweet smelling Christmas goodies rather than the usual cinnamon route that some Christmas scents can take.

I must admit I've been burning this candle all week for a few hours each night and the candle barely looks touched! I've recently used up a Simply Home candle that was the same size as this. I burned it for around 2 hours each night and it took 3 months to finish! So I can tell you for sure you get a lot of burn time from these candles!

Have you got a favourite Christmas scent? What is your favourite Yankee Candle scent? Let me know in the comments below!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! George at Asda Bedding & Throw

With Christmas fast approaching, yes I am incredibly exited since I have my own house now and can make it a wonderland, I am going to start blogging slightly more about some Christmas type things! Today I am going to be sharing something I have been raving about on my instagram. George at Asda bedding!

George at Asda Bedding & Throw

Our bedroom is warm toned in its colour scheme so adding a touch of winter bedding has really gotten me in the Christmas spirit. You can check out the duvet set on the website here. At the moment it looks like it's sadly out of stock online. To be honest I have seen so many people pick this up I'm not surprised! However I have seen plenty still in my local Asda so I would check in store. For a double duvet and two pillowcases I paid £15. I believe the single set is only £10. Fantastic value for bedding I can bring out each Christmas... though I am sure I will splurge on some more Christmas bedding next year.

The throw came separate and to be honest I bought it on a complete whim. My house is now covered in throws and blankets for the winter to make it much more cosy! This throw is available online here and is for a fantastic £5. Again great for something that, lets face it, will only be used for 5/6 weeks of the year.

Have you begun to get in the festive mood? Where would you recommend picking up bedding and throws from? Let me know in the comments!

L'oreal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Anti-Ageing Super Serum - Review

A few months ago I entered an instagram competition and luckily won this little beauty! The L'oreal Revitalift Super Serum!

L'oreal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Anti-Ageing Super Serum

I have fast become a lover of serums. Teamed with a good all round moisture I feel as though they make my skincare routine complete. So as you can imagine I was really exited to try yet another serum! The L'oreal Revitalift retails for £16.66 at Boots here. It is currently on offer and is usually £24.99 so grab it quick if you like the looks of it!

L'oreal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Anti-Ageing Super Serum

The packaging is very sleek. As you can tell it is a fingerprint magnet... but its appearance its very simple. The actual product is dispersed from a pump from a glass container. So what is the actual serum like? Well it is absolutely beautiful. The serum itself is so lightweight and fluid in texture. Since the serum is so lightweight it absorbs quickly in to the skin. For those that love skincare that doesn't even feel like you have anything on the skin then this product is perfect! My skin since beginning to use this product has felt so refreshed and nourished.

Now one thing I always say with anti-ageing product... I can't review if it is in face anti-ageing! I'm only 22 so I will get back to you in the future! What I can tell you is my skin has felt much more nourished since using this serum. The texture of the product alone is so beautiful that I will definitely be picking this up again in the future. I would totally recommend this to younger people looking for a good first step serum into the massive world of anti-ageing products!

Have you tried the L'oreal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Super Serum? Do you use serums in your skincare routine? Which ones are you absolutely loving? Let me know in the comments!

The Body Shop - Wild Rose Hand Cream, Hemp Hand Protector and Almond Hand & Nail Cream - Review

The Body Shop - Wild Rose Hand Cream, Hemp Hand Protector and Almond Hand Cream - Review

Hello everyone! Now that we are getting in to the colder months it can feel like our hands are getting the worst of it. Lately I have been applying hand cream daily to fight off the effects the cold weather can have on our hands! I've been reaching for this Body Shop gift set containing their wild rose hand cream, hemp hand protector and almond hand cream.

Wild Rose Hand Cream

The wild rose hand cream has been a lovely little edition to my skin care routine. Containing SPF it offers great sun protection for your hands... the sun can age and damage skin anywhere on your body remember! The smell is absolutely gorgeous. It's not too floral but has the perfect level of scent to it which isn't too overbearing. The hand cream itself absorbs well and is lovely, luxurious and thick. Check out the wild rose hand cream here for an affordable £5 for 30ml or £11 for 100ml.

Hemp Hand Protector

The hemp hand protector, in my opinion, is one of the best hand creams I have ever tried. It is once again such a thick and luxurious cream that it really is a treat for this skin. The thing I love the most about this hand cream is that it is so quick and fast with results. I can come in from work with really dry and tired hands and immediately after applying this hand cream my skin feels hydrated and soft. Once again the hemp hand protector is available here for £5 for 30ml and £11 for 100ml

Almond Hand & Nail Cream

The almond hand and nail cream has been a life saver for me after painting my nails. I rarely ever get the opportunity to paint my nails nowadays... mostly due to time! When I do however I like to make sure I am taking care of my hands and nails. The almond hand and nail cream has kept my nails nourished and feeling strong. I've even noticed that my nails are growing even longer before splitting or breaking. As you've probably guessed the almond hand cream is available for £5 for 30ml and £11 for 100ml also!

Have you tried The Body Shop and their range of hand creams? What is your favourite hand cream? Let me know in the comments below!

No7 Beauty Advent Calendar (No spoilers!) - December Blogging Plans!

Hello everyone! I feel like lately I have been blogging about nothing but Christmas! Can you tell I am getting in the holiday spirit? If you are an avid follower of my Instagram you will already know about this recent little purchase of mine! Last year I didn't pick up a beauty advent calendar however I made a promise that this year I would... and I did! The No7 Beauty Advent Calendar!

No7 Beauty Advent Calendar

This advent calendar is pretty big! I am so exited to open it up door by door! I have been avoiding reading any reviews of this calendar as I want the surprise each day of what I am going to get. However if you do want to check what is inside it does say on the back of the box and on the Boots page here. Unfortunately if you do check out the calendar online you will see it is now out of stock and will not be restocked.

The calendar itself retailed for £35 and has products inside that have a total value of £135. How fantastic! There is a fantastic mix of both make-up, skincare and nail art bits and bobs!

No7 Beauty Advent Calendar

So why am I writing this blog post in mid November if I'm not going to show you what's inside? Well to let you guys know how I will be showcasing the products of course! Throughout December I will be doing a blog post every 7 days showing each product behind the doors. So there will be a blog post for days 1-7, 8-14, 15-21 and the final four days 22-25! That way spoilers for those that have picked up this Calendar will be avoided and those of you that haven't had a chance to grab the box still get to see what was on offer!

As far as reviews...I will review products from the calendar as and when I try them! So if you see any products that you would particularly love to read a review on let me know in the blog posts when each set of doors is opened!

Did you manage to get a hold of the No7 Beauty Advent Calendar? Have you got another beauty advent calendar? Or did you get the usual chocolate advent calendar like I did also!? Let me know in the comments!

Poundland Beauty: Simply Pure Make-up Remover Wipes - Review

Oh no here I go again. Once again I am reviewing the beauty taboo product that is make-up wipes! As I've said in the past I like to have make-up remover wipes ready on my vanity for early mornings where I have to do my hair, do my make-up then head off to work. They allow me to quickly freshen up my face and remove any sebum and icky stuff before I start getting ready!

Simply Pure Make-up Remover Wipes

These Simply Pure wipes from Poundland came in a bundle pack of three. 60 wipes for a pound... can't really argue with that!

Simply Pure Make-up Remover Wipes

So how did the wipes do? Well they aren't the best wipes I've ever tried but they aren't the worst either! They are wet enough and soft enough on the skin that they work well as a wipe to freshen up the face however if you are planning on using these to actually remove your make-up you could be in for a hard time. I tried them to remove my make-up simply for the basis of a review and to be honest I ended up giving up and using my usual cleanser!

As wipes to quickly freshen up the face however they're perfect. The only trouble is they dry out super quickly... so make sure you don't open more than one packet at a time and remember to close them!

So yes... they're nothing to write home about but they do the job and are affordable. What are your favourite make-up remover wipes? Do you use facial wipes? Let me know in the comments!

*Sponsored Blog Post: Christmas Wish List & Emporio Armani Diamonds Rose Set Review*

Christmas is fast approaching and I love it! If I am being honest I have all my Christmas shopping pretty much done which is fantastic for me! This year I am happy to be working with  House Of Fraser to bring you my Christmas Wish List ideas for 2014!

First let me tell you about some Christmas presents from Christmas past...(are we liking the Christmas Carol reference?) I'm going to share my most hilarious and most memorable Christmas presents!

Most Hilarious

My most hilarious present actually turned out to be a useful one! There was a time in my life where I was very fond of good old bed socks... this fondness has carried on in to adulthood and I now have a massive collection. Anyway! One year a relative bought me a new pair which were more than just your average bed sock! They had grips on the bottom and were shoes! Needless to say I lived in them in the house and I would have worn them in public they were that comfy! Both hilarious and practical! My parents further fed this bed sock obsession by getting me bed socks with toe inserts... I think they were trying to indicate I had an obsession!

Most Memorable

My most memorable Christmas present was a few years back. My mum and dad bought me a locket which inside had pictures of my dead aunties who we all cared for when I was younger. I hold this dear to me. It really is a sentimental gift to me. I plan on getting another locket for my wedding day with the same pictures alongside a picture of Gaz's mother who is sadly not with us. That way they will be with me on our big day.

Wish List

Now on to the wish list! Here are a few things I have spotted on the House of Fraser website which I think would make great gifts - one of which I was kindly sent to tests!

  1. Clinique Instant Shimmer Kit - The Clinique Instant Shimmer Set, which is actually sold out at the moment due to high demand, is a fantastic little gift set for an make-up obsessed person like myself. The set comes with a mini eyeshadow palette, mascara, a brow highlighter and a cream shaper for the eyes. Anyone obsessed with creating new eye looks would love this little kit and I personally would love a chance to grab this set and practice my eye make-up some more!
  2. Elemis Pure Rose Indulgence - Anyone that reads my blog on a regular basis and follows my blogs twitter will know just how much I love a good pamper night! We all deserve a treat every now and then! This little kit contains jasmine and rose milk, pro-collagen cleansing balm, gentle rose exfoliator and cellular recovery skin bliss caps 14 capsules. This set sounds absolutely heavenly and I would love to have a good winter pamper night with this set!
  3. Emporio Armani Diamonds Rose Set - SiteVisibility through House of Fraser were kind enough to actually send me this little set to try! I was so exited to try this as I rarely ever try new scents!

Emporio Armani Diamonds Rose Set

The Emprio Armani Diamonds Rose set includes a 50ml Eau de Toilette and a 20ml Eau de Toilette which is perfect for throwing in your handbag! As you can see the little set is so beautifully packaged. It really would be the perfect little gift to receive under the tree!

Emporio Armani Diamonds Rose Set

The glass bottles themselves are stunning and also, might I add, look stunning on my vanity!

Emporio Armani Diamonds Rose Set

Now the difficult part... time to describe the scent. To me this scent is very mature and totally something I would wear to a work meeting or as an evening scent. Its smell is subtle throughout the day but gradually develops through time and wear and has a good lasting time of around 5/6 hours. I can also confirm that the other half did notice this new scent and commented on how lovely it smelt! Approval by the other half!

Emporio Armani Diamonds Rose Set

The scent is described on the website as:

'DIAMONDS ROSE opens with a sparkling freshness where the bergamot mingles with the juicy tones of raspberry and blackcurrant. A heart of seductive rose is revealed with a new version of the Bulgarian rose more exacerbated, luminous, delicate and vibrating. The crunchy tones of lily of the valley and the fruity facets of the freesia, highlight the radiant beauty of this irresistible and exceptional rose. The fragrance finally unveils a delicate addiction of amber notes, enveloping and warm, mingled with the woody sensuality of patchouli. The ambrette seed adds a salty, musky sweetness which irresistibly merges with the skin.'

I have to admit that the website describe it a lot better than I do!

Have you created a Christmas wish list yet? Which one of these products catch your eye? Let me know in the comments below!

Wilkinsons Make-up Brushes - Powder Brush and Stippler Foundation Brush - Review

I'm sure many of you have spotted the new beauty range on offer at Wilkinsons. If not get yourself down there! It really is something to look at and for those of you, like me, who are after budget beauty items it is an absolute steal! Today I will be sharing my thoughts on the Wilkinsons make-up brush line; specifically their powder brush and stippler foundation brush.

Wilkinsons Make-up Brushes - Powder Brush and Stippler Foundation Brush
Left: Stippler Brush     Right: Powder Brush

There are plenty more brushes in this range however I own far too many brushes already so I chose the two I new I would get the most use from. The stippler brush and the powder brush are both available for £4.

Wilkinsons Make-up Brushes - Powder Brush and Stippler Foundation Brush

The packaging on these brushes is fantastic. They are so well sealed which is fantastic for hygiene! At my local Wilkinsons they have a display where you can actually touch the brushes and get an overall idea and (literal) feel for them before picking up a fresh and sealed brush. They come in zip lock bags which you can re-use. Personally I have used them for going away for make-up bits and bobs that could leak. The brushes also come with protective sleeves to keep the brushes in good condition and maintain their shape.

Wilkinsons Make-up Brushes - Powder Brush
Powder Brush

First I am going to express my absolute love for the powder brush. If you see this brush buy it. Simple as. It is so thick and dense and SO SOFT! I can't believe how soft it is! Even my other half will stroke this when he sees me using it... weird I know but trust me it is the softest thing in the world!

As a powder brush it is fantastic. Since the brush is so dense it picks up the powder on the very surface of the brush and evenly disperses it. The effect it gives is always so lovely and natural. As for cleaning the brush it holds up amazingly. I've had these brushes for around 3 months and I can honestly say I have seen no fallout which can be a bit of a risk with cheaper brushes. Massive thumbs up to Wilkinsons for this brush!

Wilkinsons Make-up Brushes - Stippler Foundation Brush
Stippler Foundation Brush

Now we move on to the stippler brush... I'm going to be brutally honest here. For its purpose as a stippler brush it's rubbish. The hair is far too soft. A stippler brush needs to be a lot denser with stronger stipples of hair to apply the foundation. Compared to my MAC 187 stippling brush there is no competition... I reach for the MAC 187 each time. I'm really at a loss as to what I can use this brush for other than another powder brush which I admit I do tend to if all my other brushes are being washed!

It's just too soft for its purpose. Other than that it would have been fantastic. For £4 it's not a big loss but I would stay clear of this brush if you are considering it. I have seen a lot of similar reviews so fingers crossed Wilkinsons will remake this brush with stiffer and denser bristles. Then it will be perfect!

Have you tried the Wikinsons make-up brushes yet? What are your go to affordable make-up brushes? Let me know in the comments below!
