Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser review

Today I am going to be taking a look at a new product that has been hyped up so much recently. The Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. Everyone knew about the craze that was the Maybelline Baby Lips (check out my review here) so now it’s time for Maybelline to rekindle the hype for a second product in the Baby range (weird to say…).

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

The idea behind this 'lightweight primer' is that it is supposed to blur out your pores as opposed to the Benefit Porefessional which fills in your pores. I haven’t yet tried this but when I do I’ll be sure to compare the two. This product is also supposed to be a primer so after you have applied this you are ready to apply your make-up as normal.

So what are my thoughts? Well I have been trying this out all week since I got it last Saturday (I wanted to give you guys a quick update on this new product but still give the product a good test!) and I have to say that for me the product does blur out my pores; however I notice this most when I have applied my make-up. I feel like my skin looks a lot smoother than usual and that the finish is much more flawless. Admittedly I don’t have a major problem with my pores, just a few big pores from acne scarring from my teenage years, however I did notice a massive difference in the finish of my make-up.

However one problem I do have with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer are its claims to be a primer for your make-up. I use primer myself to make my make-up last that little bit longer as I wear my make-up through pretty long days where I don’t really have the time or space in my bag to touch up! I have tried the product with numerous foundations from drugstore Rimmel up to MAC foundation and it just doesn’t give my make-up any extra or added length than the days I forget to put primer on! I find my skin goes shiny and make-up begins to shift after about 5 hours. I recommend using this alongside your normal primer for that flawless, long-lasting look.

So overall yes I do believe that this product helps minimize the look of pores and create a flawless finish to your make-up but as a primer I feel like it lets itself down. If Maybelline had simply labelled this a pore corrector or eraser then I would be totally sold on it but with the added claim it’s a primer I can’t say it 100% lives up to the name and left me slightly disappointed that I couldn't just use it for a flawless finish and as a primer though it did give a smooth surface for my make-up to go on.

One final thing I would like to mention is that a few people have reviewed this product and mentioned they have had a skin reaction to it. I would urge anyone with sensitive skin to test this on a small patch of skin just to be safe. I myself have sensitive skin and I had no problems. Some other claims have also been that it is an oily product but personally I didn’t feel like this product was oily on the skin. If you have a tester available to you in store I would suggest trying this out on the back of your hand to see how you feel about the consistency. If you like silicone based products or the feel they have (which I do) you should love this.

Have you tried out the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer – what were your thoughts? What primer would you recommend? Let me know!

  4. I was going to buy this myself but picking it up in store I realised it was so small for how much it was. I would rather spend more on a higher end product that just a drugstore one. I love the layout of your blog, so simple and not overpowering :) xx

  5. I do really want to try this, but I'm worried, like most other silicon based primers, it will just move around my foundation! I'm still on the fence with this one, is it really worth the £7.99 price tag?

Was great reading your view on it though :)

    1. Depends; if £7.99 isn't alot for you it is great for that added flawless finish but not so great as a primer. With primer I would always suggest Smashbox photo finish!

  8. I've been tempted by this for a while, and as I don't wear primer anyway I suppose it wouldn't hurt! Really helpful review, thank you!

  11. I really want to try this - I've heard good things about it :) I have quite large pores so hopefully it would help! I normally wear Benefit's Porefessional but it's far too expensive to keep repurchasing! x

  12. This is the first post I've seen where someone hasn't absolutely raved about this primer! I tested it whilst I was in Boots and thought it was alright but I currently use Rimmel Fix and Perfect which is a similar price point and works well for me. I guess if it's similar to Porefessional then there's a saving to be made but I don't think I'll be switching! Thankyou for such a helpful review :)

  13. So great to read up on this - I've been looking for a new primer as I've run out of my Rimmel one, and was toying with getting this one! Maybe I'll stick with my old faithful...

Thanks for sharing your link with me on twitter :)
